What if our success delays happen?
When we realise that we have tried everything but have not achieved yet the milestones or goals we hoped for, then it’s an indication of a success delay.
I know it’s hard. Some of us may feel stuck and frustrated while going through this. Over 20 years of educational and professional experience have taught me that
when we feel stuck, it usually doesn’t take long for success to come.
This is weird, yet true. Unfortunately, 99% of people give up right at that stage!
There is one thing I want to tell you. If our success delays happen, it may be due to an
extension of the process, which could result to higher achievements than expected!
Why??
Because it allows us to improve our assignments, work samples, or progress, we can gradually increase our best efforts.
This is in line with what James Clear wrote in his phenomenal book entitled Atomic Habit, which states that people frequently expect immediate results or success. However, their outcomes are frequently delayed, and they finally realise the true value of their hard work several years later. This condition usually leads to a “valley of disappointment,” where people feel hopeless after working hard for a long time without achieving the expected results. However, the effort is not in vain; simply save first.
While we wait for the best momentum, we shall take some of the following actions:
1. Take a pause, reflect, then evaluate.
We need a pause to take a muse for a little bit, so we can evaluate our work in many parts. By evaluating our work in further detail, we can identify holes that can be filled to achieve our best job results.
2. Consider some better solutions that might work.
Based on point number 1, if we discover an issue that might arise, we have the opportunity to resolve it and find the best and most relevant solution.
3. Ask feedback from experienced and successful mentors.
Someone with more expertise in the sector we are concerned about is the ideal feedback giver because they will provide feedback based on their actual and past challenges; they have experienced them, gone through many trials and errors, and finally found the solution.
4. Try to be more innovative.
Never stop searching for a better way to address the issue in your field of expertise. Be creative to achieve breakthroughs and stand out from the competition by offering a unique value.
5. Being thankful for everything we’ve gone through and appreciating the journey.
We have done our best; thus, we should embrace and respect ourselves for remaining strong in these hard circumstances.
We cannot build success just in a single night, as it requires efforts, endeavours, trial-and-error processes, and ups and downs. Simply maintain an optimistic attitude, present the most relevant material, trust your intuition that “this will work,” and believe in God’s kindness. I am confident that your efforts will soon pay off nicely! 😊
